Jovana races into semis
Jovana’s impressive form in Lexington continued yesterday as she won another close encounter against Hiroko Kuwata to reach the semifinals.
In a rain delayed match, Jovana again used her serve to gain the upper hand, firing 6 aces on her way to a 7-5 6-3 victory.
“She is a very tough opponent, Japanese they are always fighting till the end,” said Jovana of the world no.154.
“I couldn’t keep my serve in the beginning, lost three games in row on my serve. We had a rain break at 3/4 15/15 on my serve so it really came at a very good time for me so I could focus on my serve and what I was doing wrong.
“I kept my serve when we came back and finishrd strong that set 7/5. We had some really good points, I was being aggressive when needed but also changing rhythm. Second set went a bit easier, I had chances and few break points to finish it even sooner but I’m so happy with my serve in the second set and just with my focus which I had during the whole match.
“Conditions were hard, it was very hot and humid so I was trying to stay the least time I could on the court and I’m so happy to be in semi finals.”
Jovana will face Michaella Krajicek in the semifinals tomorrow in their first meeting.
