Jovana qualifies at Ricoh Open
Jovana qualified for the main draw of the Ricoh Open after a hard fought 6-3 7-6 (8) battle against Amra Sadikovic of Switzerland.
Jovana saved four set points in the second set tiebreak to clinch the victory against the world No.149.
She started as she left off yesterday, using her aggressive game to great effect on the fast grass courts, and was most pleased with her ability to stay calm no matter the score.
“I’m really so happy with my win and my performance,” she said. “I knew it wouldn’t be easy, she is a good friend of mine and that’s always mentally tough when you go on the court. I knew she is serving well so I was focusing as yesterday to keep my serve and stay low on return and use my chances on return, just be aggressive and play my game.
“I knew I won’t have many chances on return so I had to use each one which opened to me. The tie break was very tough, so many ups and downs, I got to save four set points, I wasn’t thinking about anything else only to play one at a time. I think the best thing about me and my game today was that I was calm through the whole match and that helped me win today.”
