Jovana misses out in Anning
Jovana missed out on her first $50k ITF title after suffering a 6-2 6-3 defeat to Zheng Saisai in Anning, China. Jovana, the No.1 seed, said that a week of long matches finally caught up with her as she put in a sub-par performance in the final.
“Well I had tough match yesterday plus conditions were hard,” said the world No.112. “I was waiting the whole day because of the rain yesterday and also here it is 2000m high altitude, which makes it even tougher to play. To tell you the truth, it was a miracle to get to the final since I arrived only one day before my first match. Today I was just feeling heavy and made so many mistakes, but that’s tennis.”
By reaching the final, Jovana should have done enough to secure her entry into the main draw of Wimbledon.
“I’m really happy,” she added. “That’s why I decided to come to this tournament in China so I could secure it. I was giving my best, trying not to put too much pressure on myself, but all the time I had in my mind that I’m playing for Wimbledon main draw so it wasn’t easy.”
