Jovana marches into quarters
Jovana marched into the quarterfinals of the Europe Tennis Center Ladies Open with victory over world No.118 Kristina Kukova, the highest ranked opponent she has beaten this year.
Jovana handled the windy conditions in Budapest with ease and pointed to her smart tactics as the reason she was able to snare a 6-3 6-3 victory over a tricky opponent.
“I knew it would be a tough match, she is a tough opponent, being aggressive and also fast,” said Jovana. “The conditions were very hard for both of us, the wind was blowing very fast and very very strobg. I was telling myself that I need to be calm and “see the court”. I was playing very smart, using my opponent’s weaknesses the best I could, opening the court with spin and using the wind and than finish it into the other side. I’m very happy with the way I played and even happier to be in the quarter finals.
“About my opponent tomorrow I don’t know a lot, she is a young girl, local so she’ll have the crowd on her side. I’ll go into that match like any other, focused, playing my game being aggressive and enjoying it, just being happy.”
She faces Fanny Stollar for a place in the semifinals.
