Jovana makes early exit in Melbourne
Jovana’s Australian Open came to a premature end when she fell in the first round of qualifying with a 6-1 6-1 defeat by Stephanie Foretz.
The experienced Frenchwoman used her slice and accuracy to unsettle Jovana and the blustery conditions in Melbourne did little to help the Serbian settle into her rhythm.
The scoreline was one-sided despite some close games and chances for Jovana, but she offered no excuses after the match.
“She played her game very well and coped better with the conditions than I did,” said Jovana. “I couldn’t find my game and was hitting a lot of balls off the frame. She definitely made life difficult for me.
“I have to stay positive and keep working hard and unfortunately put this bad day at the office behind me.”
Jovana will next play a $25k ITF Pro Circuit event in Florida with a view to getting some good matches under her belt.
