Jovana loses in Tashkent opener
Jovana has been knocked out of the Tashkent Open at the first hurdle by local favourite Akgul Amanmuradova.
Wild card Amanmuradova has been ranked as high as No.50 in the world, but after a string of long-term injuries her ranking has slipped to 324. Jovana, in desperate need of some confidence-boosting matches, bounced back after losing the first set but eventually went down 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 in another tough defeat.
“I was working so hard at home and I could feel the improvements in my game,” said Jovana. “I think I had some chances in the third set and I didn’t take them. So I just need to keep working hard and believing that my positive results will come.”
Jovana is included in the voting for the inaugural WTA Rising Stars competition taking place in Singapore, you can vote for her here: www.wtafinals.com/Rising-Star-Poll
